Six Ways Invisalign Makes Life Easier

Jun 13 / 2019

Crowded teeth, crooked teeth, or spaced teeth; underbite, overbite, crossbite, or open bite? The good news is that you may not need metal braces.

Crowded teeth, crooked teeth, or spaced teeth; underbite, overbite, crossbite, or open bite. Did you know that these common issues are about more than just your smile? In fact, misaligned teeth can lead to excessive wear and decay if not properly treated or taken care of. If you have any of the above, you may need Dr. Scramstad to straighten your smile.

The good news is that you may not need metal braces. Modern dentistry has many new innovative solutions to misaligned teeth, and one of the most popular is the Invisalign aligner system.

So What is Invisalign and How Does Invisalign Work?

Invisalign is a custom-made, clear aligner that is made from a computer-generated mold of the patient’s teeth. The Invisalign process is simple and less invasive than metal braces.

The aligners straighten misaligned teeth in stages by gently applying pressure that repositions the teeth. Once the teeth have adjusted to the new position, a new mold of the teeth will be taken to move the teeth a little further. The aligners are interchanged every two weeks, or less, until the teeth are fully aligned. This ‘retraining’ of the teeth helps the surrounding bone and tissue adjust to the new tooth position and grow around the tooth to secure it in place.

The Benefits of Invisalign

The advantages of Invisalign are many and range from the appearance to convenience. Below are six reasons to consider Invisalign treatment if it’s a viable option for your needs.

1. Hardly Noticeable

One of the key benefits of Invisalign is the appearance (or lack thereof). Invisalign aligners are clear and practically invisible. This alone makes Invisalign a popular choice, and it makes Orthodontic treatment at Align Ortho much less intrusive on your day-to-day life.

2. Convenient

Convenience is definitely number two on the list. Although you should wear your Invisalign aligners 22 hours a day, they are easy to remove and replace, which means it is easier to brush, floss, eat and drink. And there is no complicated dental care to follow to ensure they don’t break. This means you can eat what you want, without worrying about the more difficult brushing and flossing that can come with other Orthodontic treatment options.

3. Comfortable

No one wants to be jabbed in the cheek with wires or braces. Aligners are a clear material that fits tightly on the teeth, so there are no delicate metal wires that may snag or break.

4. Faster Results.

Clients often ask, “How quickly will you see results with Invisalign.” Faster results are a definite benefit, and many patients notice Invisalign results within 12 weeks, but it all depends on the severity of the misalignment and how you respond to the process.

5. More Gain, Less Pain

Discomfort during Invisalign treatment is minimal, but most wearers will experience discomfort especially during the first few days after starting a new aligner. With metal braces, you experience pain from pressure on teeth and from having metal fixtures in the mouth. With Invisalign the pressure is usually less severe.

6. Kissing Approved

Most importantly(for some), many people wonder if you can kiss when wearing Invisalign. The answer is yes, you most definitely can. Invisalign aligners are smooth and designed to fit really close to your teeth. There is no need to worry, Invisalign won’t affect your kissing technique. So go ahead and kiss as much as you like!

Does Invisalign Work?

When people ask, “Does Invisalign work?” we can say with certainty, “Yes it does.” There is no doubt that Invisalign makes life, and straightening your teeth, easier and more comfortable.

So why delay straightening that incisor, pushing back protruding canines, or aligning your molars? After all, your teeth do a lot of work every day, and if you want to keep them functioning in the best possible way, put them in their proper place.

You’ll be glad you did, and with Invisalign, the process is as easy as 1, 2, 3. If you have any questions or concerns about whether Invisalign is a viable treatment option for you, please do not hesitate to ask Dr. Scramstad or any of the team at Align Ortho. We are always here to help and have 12 years of experience using the Invisalign system.
