Dr. Don Scramstad established Align in Kelowna in 1981. Dr. James Scramstad is a GP Dentist who has limited his scope of practice to Orthodontic care. Align Ortho’s treatment philosophy concentrates on creating beautiful smiles and harmonious facial relationships – we avoid tooth extractions wherever possible and design our treatment to improve the overall facial result of each patient.

Dr. James Scramstad’s father (Dr. Don Scramstad) started the Align Practice here in Kelowna back in 1981, and spent the last 30 years straightening smiles in the Okanagan. James wanted to continue the family tradition – after graduating from OKM Secondary, James went to the University of Alberta to obtain his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Dental Surgery degrees. He worked all over BC but would always return home to Kelowna – James started working full time at Align in 1996, and has recently taken the practice over from his dad.

James is a family man through and through. He values the time he spends at home with his wife Natasha and their kids Koa and Maléa. When theyʼre not at home, James and family are usually found exploring the Okanagan. Avid mountain bikers, they also enjoy skiing, hiking, surfing, boating and more. James took the first week of July off last year to take part in the BC Bike Race and biked for a full 7 days on BCʼs beautiful West Coast! You will often see a bicycle in the office on any given day – James rides to work as often as he can.
Dr. Don Scramstad received his Dental degree from the University of Alberta in 1967. He began practicing in Kelowna in 1967, and after moving to the lower mainland for several years, he moved back and established Align in Kelowna in 1981. Don straightened a lot of smiles in his 46 years of practicing!
Dr. Don is enjoying his retirement restoring classic cars, mountain biking, and spending time with his grandchildren Evan, Ella, Koa, and Maléa.
